It’s been raining a lot here lately.  When I say a lot, I mean A LOT.   In fact, massive quantities of rain might be the better term here.  We’ve gotten at least 10 inches of rain the last 24 hours.  Add that to the 10 or so that’s fallen the past week and you get a hell of a lot of rain.   The last time I saw it rain this much for this amount of time I was in Taiwan.  It’s a tropical country.  They have monsoons.  We don’t.

Everything in our little town is under water.  The businesses and schools are closed.  The roads are closed (or what’s left of them – many have washed away).  More rain is on the way.  I suspect it will be a very long time before I can take the backroads again.  Here are a few pics of our area from the AJC:

These are the rain totals as of midnight Sunday.  The pink dot is the South end of our county.  Fortunately, we are on high ground in the North end of the County but many of our friends in Cobb aren’t.   Our road and driveway are toast and will require several loads of gravel.  Our basement has a respectable film of water.  It could be worse.
